Panasonic has launched a new Android-based rugged tablet under its Toughpad series in India, named Toughpad FZ-B2. The tablet has been “designed for business” and is priced at a premium price of Rs. 75,000.
The company claims that the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 has been developed for various usage conditions across business verticals including automotive, aviation, telecom, utility, retail, manufacturing, and logistics, among others.
Initially launched last year, the Toughpad FZ-B2 meets the MIL-STD-810G standard, features an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, and has been drop-tested from a height of 150cm. The tablet bears 32GB of inbuilt storage, while also supporting expandable storage via microSD card (maximum supported capacity unspecified). It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Panasonic FZ-B2 tablet features a 7-inch WXGA (800×1200 pixels) IPS LCD display and a fanless design, apart from running Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. The tablet comes with rain mode and glove touch options for usage in various weather conditions.
A 64-bit Intel Celeron N2930 (4 cores, 4 threads, 2MB cache, 1.83GHz base clock, up to 2.16GHz with burst) processor powers the FZ-B2 tablet, along with Intel HD Graphics (313MHz base frequency, up to 854MHz with burst) and 2GB of RAM.
The connectivity options of the Panasonic FZ-B2 include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0. The tablet also supports 4G LTE mobile broadband with satellite GPS. It is 18mm thick and weighs 540 grams. The company also claims that the tablet can offer up to 8 hours of battery life with a user-replaceable 3220mAh battery. An optional 14-hour battery is also available.
