Apple iPad mini 2 Review

Comparing it to its predecessor, the Apple iPad mini with Retina screen looks no different either, but that’s until you turn it on. The new screen is impressively sharp and the new chipset is blazing fast, meaning loading times in most apps are noticeably faster now. The Wi-Fi speeds have doubled, there is a seriously bigger battery inside, there is a second mic for noise cancellation and now...

BlackBerry Z30 Review

The Z30 isn’t BlackBerry’s first smartphone to entirely break up with the old ways and go after the multimedia powerhouses of the competition. In fact, a five-incher must’ve been on the cards ever since the 4.2″ Z10 appeared early this year. This sure looks like a steep increase in screen size but Blackberry must’ve been aware of the fact that they needed to catch up and...

LG Nexus 5 Review

The search giant is partnering with LG for a second year in a row. Whether the Koreans are offering the best production cost or both sides were happy with the Nexus 4, it’s a choice we don’t mind at all. Anyway, Android 4.4 KitKat on a five-inch full-HD screen, powered by a Snapdragon 800 is a package no one would say not to. Check out the key specs to see what we’re on about. Key...

Casual browsing and gaming have long been the strong suit of tablets, but in the post-PC era they have a big issue to deal with – content creation. Here’s how these two tablets stack up...

Oppo N1 Review

Prior to release, Oppo went over and beyond to promote the upcoming smartphone with regular YouTube teasers and sneak peeks, getting CyanogenMod’s top man, Steve Kondik, on board. That collaboration will bear fruit in a limited edition Oppo N1 with a CyanogenMod ROM but the one we’re about to have a closer look at runs the company’s homebrewed Color OS. Android manufacturers (Chinese...

Sony Xperia C Review

It is the company’s first smartphone powered by a MediaTek chipset. Sony has so far always opted for either Snapdragons or (when the company still existed) ST Ericsson but, with China being the primary target market, it had little choice really. The latest MediaTek chips support both dual-SIM and quad-core processors, and they are light on the wallet too. Affordability is, of course, an important...

ZTE Grand S II

ZTE Grand S II The ZTE Grand S II phablet has leaked on several occasions and is certainly the most interesting device in the roster. Unfortunately it’s also the one with the fewest official details. The company advertises the phablet’s three mics and noise cancellation tech, but that’s it. Rumored specs include a 5.5″ 1080p screen and Snapdragon 800 chipset, but we’ll...

iPhone 6 to come in two sizes, Foxconn leaks claim

Foxconn, the folks responsible for the production of Apple’s iPhone, have oftentimes been the source of leaks either through actual employees or infiltrators. According to information coming out of China’s Weibo platform, several Foxconn insiders have revealed that production of the new iPhone 6 will be split between two models, one with a 4.7″ screen, and a 5.7-incher. There are...

MediaTek bringing LTE and Cortex-A15 big.LITTLE to CES

MediaTek is quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular chipset vendors but it has only been associated with value-for-money devices. What it’s bringing to CES will help it break away from that image and even jump on the wearables bandwagon. One of the key components is the MT6290 modem. Built on a 28nm process, the modem supports LTE Cat. 4, meaning it can achieve downlink speeds...

Acer has unveiled Liquid Z5 – the successor of the very affordable Liquid Z3. The new Z5 model comes with a bigger 5″ FWVGA TFT display, though it is powered by the same MediaTek MT6572 platform. The MT6572 is based on a dual-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor, Mali-400 graphics and 512MB of RAM. It should be enough to power the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ticking inside the Liquid Z5. The rest...

Motorola Moto G Reveiw

The Moto X was the first to set on a crusade to prove that high-end smartphones go beyond the number of cores and pixels. Now we have the Moto G on a mission to let everyone know that affordability doesn’t necessarily imply crippled functionality. The Moto X was unusual enough to be reasonably successful despite its hefty price tag. The Moto G, on the other hand, is priced to move quickly and...
